OKI opens applications for funding, announces RFQ for bridge traffic counts

The Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Council of Governments (OKI), the metropolitan planning organization with the final say in local disbursement of federal transportation funding, has announced the availability of funding for right-of-way and construction projects.

Applications are now being accepted for Transportation Alternative Program (TAP) funds in all three states, and for Surface Transportation Program for Northern Kentucky (SNK) funds.

Eligible TAP projects include on- and off-road pedestrian and bicycle facilities; infrastructure projects for improving non-driver access to public transportation and enhanced mobility, community improvement activities, and environmental mitigation; recreational trail program projects; safe routes to school projects; and projects for the planning, design or construction of boulevards and other roadways largely in the right-of-way of former Interstate system routes or other divided highways. SNK funding is available for highway, transit, and non-highway freight projects for fiscal years 2015-2017.

Completed applications are due by noon on April 12.

Questions regarding TAP funds may be directed to Don Burrell of the OKI staff at dburrell@oki.org. Questions regarding SNK funds may be directed to Mark Paine of the OKI staff at mpaine@oki.org.

RFQ for bridge traffic counts

OKI also has issued a request for qualifications (RFQ) for services related to the collection and delivery of traffic count data for the seven vehicular bridges crossing the Ohio River, to be performed between April 1 and May 30.

RFQ submissions are due by 4 P.M. on March 6. The winning RFQ will be ratified by the OKI board on March 14, with a contract finalized on March 21.

Questions about the RFQ will be accepted through February 27 and should be directed to Karen Whitaker of the OKI staff at karenw@oki.org.

The project is being funded with Consolidated Planning Grant funds in cooperation with the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
