The first part of a three-exhibit series called "The Art of the Built Environment" begins with an opening reception this evening at the Betts House, 5 P.M. to 8 P.M.
On view through July 14, Cincinnati: Vibrant Visions features the photography on Scott McHenry, whose unique perspectives and vibrant imagery capture recognizable parts of the City's built environment in a new way.
On June 23, McHenry will share his inspirations and motivations for using the built environment as the subject of his work in a 2 P.M. gallery talk.
"I photograph places as if I am seeing them for the first time, no matter how familiar they are to me," McHenry said in a prepared release.
Two future exhibits include Soul of the City (August 11-September 22), showcasing diverse urban themes through the use of paintings, sculptures, and photographs by the 5300 Group; and Urban Landscapes (October 13-November 29), featuring photographs of urban neglect and abandonment by Sherman Cahal, Zach Fein, Craig Moyer, and Ronny Salerno.
"The Art of the Built Environment" is made possible through a project support grant from ArtsWave.
The Betts House is open Tuesday through Thursday from 11 A.M. to 2 P.M., as well as June 9 and June 23 from 12:30 P.M. to 5 P.M. Other days and times are available by appointment only.
Admission is $2 per person.
