A one-block section of Broadway, currently open only to northbound traffic, will soon be open to two-way traffic between E Thirteenth and E Fourteenth streets.
The move is part of Pendleton's ongoing streetscape improvement project and is expected to improve traffic circulation without compromising limited on-street parking spaces. E Twelfth Street, between Sycamore Street and Broadway, was converted to one-way eastbound in August.
In a March 20 letter to the Department of Transportation and Engineering, Pendleton Neighborhood Council President David White pledged his community's support for the change, which was the result of neighborhood planning efforts.
"Residents who live in the block most directly impacted are excited for this conversion, as it will allow for easier access to their residences, without an increase in traffic," White said.
Over-the-Rhine Community Council also supports the change.
Broadway has been one-way northbound between E Fifth and E Fourteenth streets for more than 40 years.
