Wrecking Cincinnati: 1303 Regent Ave

NEIGHBORHOOD: Bond Hill
YEAR BUILT: 1894
USE: Single-family dwelling
OWNER: Parry Saroya (Detroit, Mich.)
ASSESSED VALUE: $2,700
HAZARD: November 2011, adding chimney. The month before, the front porch had failed and collapsed onto the sidewalk. The house was eligible for historic protection, but was deemed to be in imminent danger of collapse.
CONDEMNED: July 2006. The building apparently was lost in foreclosure, and new orders were issued to the bank in May 2007.
ORDERS: September 2005 for bulging masonry walls, damaged garage roof structure, roof, dilapidated fence, flashing, gutters and downspouts, sewer connections, cornice, tuck pointing, lintels, exterior paint, broken and missing windows, and a failing front porch. City inspectors were unable to get into the building on several occasions due to large groups of people hanging out and selling drugs, requiring a police escort to do their jobs.
REASON RAZED: Declared a public nuisance and entered into the City's hazard abatement program.
