Cincinnati Reds pitcher Aaron Harang presented a check for $55,000 to the Miracle League of Greater Cincinnati during Kahn's Redsfest 2007.
The donation includes $40,000 from Aaron and Jen Harang and $15,000 from both Harang and Chevrolet as part of his Roberto Clemente Award.
The money will be used to help build the $4 million Miracle League complex at Oskamp Field in Westwood, which will include a field with a synthetic rubber surface that is safer and more accessible for children with disabilities.
Four new dirt baseball fields and a new restroom and concessions facility will also be built at the park.
The complex will be the new home of the Cincinnati Recreation Commission's (CRC) Adapted Baseball program, and outgrowth of the CRC's Division of Therapeutic Recreation. Players in the program are part of the Miracle League, a nationwide association of communities sponsoring similar programs.
The project is a partnership between the CRC and the Reds Community Fund, who are sharing the cost. The Reds Community Fund is continuing to raise funds through the sale of bricks and pavers.
Groundbreaking is scheduled for April, with completion in June.
