2007 NBDSF funding requests

Applications for Neighborhood Business District Support Fund (NBDSF) grant funds were submitted to City Council on November 14.

The following 15 proposals have been received:

* Bond Hill ($4,167): A unifying logo and signage for the business district and seasonal decorations for Reading Road and California Avenue.

* Clifton ($4,167): Annuals for the business district's planters and police patrols by off-duty officers.

* College Hill ($4,167): Brochures, holiday decorations, professional management for the NBD gateway and facade programs and off-duty officer patrols at various times and events.

* East Price Hill ($4,167): Funding for Holiday on the Hill, design of a gateway element for St. Lawrence Corner, classical music piped onto Warsaw Avenue and Friday Night Basketball.

* Hyde Park ($4,167): Holiday advertising of Hyde Park Square in Cincinnati Magazine, the Cincinnati Enquirer and Community Press newspapers.

* Kennedy Heights ($4,167): The creation of a community development corporation, Winterfest, and printing costs for the neighborhood newsletter.

* Mount Lookout ($4,167): The hiring of a landscaping company for Mount Lookout Square and Luminaria kits.

* Northside ($4,167): Masonry repair in preparation for the MuralWorks project, the Holiday Celebration in Hoffner Park, the Northside Holiday Art Sale, beautification, a farmers market, and irrigation for Pope Alley Piazza.

* Over-the-Rhine/Central Vine Street ($4,167): Media marketing, recruiting and gathering data for the business association, off-duty police patrols during special events, and seasonal plantings for the flower boxes.

* Over-the-Rhine/Main Street ($4,167): Media marketing, identity signage for businesses, off-duty officer patrols for Final Friday, and the Holiday Stroll and Shop.

* West Price Hill ($4,167): A "Welcome to West Price Hill" sign at Glenway and Crookshank, similar in design to the two that they already have installed.

* Westwood ($4,167): Media marketing of the Westwood Home Tour.

* East Walnut Hills ($4,100): Branding for the Avenue Woodburn corridor to be done by Kolar Design.

* Mount Adams ($4,100): Marketing of the business district through Yardwig Communications and holiday decorations and plantings.

* Evanston ($4,030): A parking lot (no location specified) and landscaping for the Point.

The NBDSF, which is budgeted through the City's Department of Community Development, provides up to $10,000 for general improvement projects to each of 34 recognized neighborhood business districts.

The program is administered through Invest in Neighborhoods, Inc. No release date for the funds has been set, though it will have to be soon.
