Wrecking Cincinnati: 1728 Harrison Ave

NEIGHBORHOOD: South Fairmount
YEAR BUILT: 1922
USE: Two-family dwelling
OWNER: Gerar Inc. (Bogota, NJ)
ASSESSED VALUE: $52,260
HAZARD: September 2010, now with broken and missing windows, deteriorated gutters and downspouts, and water damage.
CONDEMNED: June 2009, for the same orders. Following a lack of response by the lender, a criminal case was filed in January 2010. The property changed owners later that year, and the criminal case appears unresolved.
ORDERS: May 2008, ordered vacated and barricaded. Mechanical systems in the building were missing or vandalized and the lot was covered with litter and debris. In late 2008, the property was lost in bankruptcy and orders were reissued to the bank.
REASON RAZED: Although City inspection records indicate that the property was purchased by the Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati, auditor records indicate no such sale. Instead, it appears that the property was razed by the City after being entered into the hazard abatement program.
