Local highway projects causing closures

Several local highway construction projects could put a kink in your commute or travel plans, for a period of several weeks to…forever.

Among the major local projects are:

  • Broadway Street/Casino: Beginning today, the section of Broadway Street between Court Street and Reading Road will close permanently for the installation of the $400 million Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati's urban plaza. Eggleston Avenue will open to northbound-only traffic today, and will open to two-way traffic in June. E Court Street will remain closed from Eggleston Avenue to Reedy Street, and will be reduced to one lane in each direction from Reedy Street to Gilbert Avenue.
  • I-75/Norwood Lateral (State Route 562): Beginning yesterday, a 45-day closure of the ramp from the westbound Norwood Lateral to southbound I-75 will allow crews to replace the ramp's bridge deck. Traffic will be detoured to northbound I-75 and will be able to access southbound I-75 after exiting at the Paddock Road/Seymour Avenue interchange (State Routes 4 and 561).
  • Waldvogel Viaduct: During the weeks of April 30 and May 7, between 9 P.M. and 5 A.M., intermittent total closures of U.S. 50 at State Avenue and State Avenue at U.S. 50 to allow for the installation of structural steel beams as part of a $68 million project to replace the structurally-deficient structure with an at-grade roadway and five new ramp bridges. The nightly closures will last for approximately 15 minutes before traffic will be released and allowed to clear before the next closure.
