$2M appropriated for Hamilton County-owned bridges

Cincinnati City Council has passed unanimously an ordinance that would appropriate $2 million for the inspection and maintenance of the 26 county-owned bridges and viaducts located within the City limits.

The ordinance creates a new capital improvement program project account for Municipal Road Fund allocations received from the Board of Hamilton County Commissioners to fund program years 2007 to 2011.

The $2 million, to be withdrawn from the new account, will pay for debts accrued for 2007 and 2008.

This bridge maintenance agreement between the City and county was executed in March 2007 and provides to the City nearly $1 million in funding annually.

Municipal Road Funds are generated by the $5 county motor vehicle tax.
