The Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS) board has approved the schematic design for the new Winton Montessori School.
Designed by Cole + Russell, Fanning Howey and Moody Nolan, Inc., the 75,000-square-foot school will be built on the campus of Schwab School at 4370 Beech Hill Avenue in Northside.
Clad in red brick with white stone accents, the building's two-story wing will house classrooms, while a one-story wing will include the gymnasium, cafeteria/auditorium, library, computer lab, and administrative offices.
Construction costs are estimated at $16.6 million.
Schwab School, built in 1955 and closed by CPS last year due to low enrollment, will be razed.
Also at the meeting, the board approved a resolution to rebid general trades work for the renovation and expansion of the College Hill Fundamental Academy and awarded a $78,230 bid to Astar Abatement, Inc. for asbestos abatement at Hughes Center.
