Wrecking Cincinnati, 2/10/09

2539 Cummins Street, North Fairmount
Single-family
DOB: 1892
Died: December 2008
Cause of death: A leaking foundation, structural framing issues, failing gutters, eaves and downspouts, broken sidewalks, missing siding and windows, and an unbelievable amount of litter. The place required frequent barricading to keep out the trespassers, and the front siding and windows became a billboard for graffiti.

The City condemned the house in July 2006. The owner's nephew contacted the City to let them know that the owner had a mental condition and was delusional.

A criminal case was filed in February 2007, and the house was declared a public nuisance a month later. The building was razed by the City following asbestos abatement.

There is a warrant out for the owner, and the case is still pending. It seems likely that the case will be dropped.
