1843 Westwood Avenue, South Fairmount
Two-family
DOB: 1900
Died: July 2008
Cause of death: A fire on June 23, 2007 that caused an estimated $20,000 in damage. The fire heavily damaged studs, joists, and rafters. The building was condemned immediately. The property was vacant at the time of the fire. A falling out between the two owners and business partners over money delayed the demolition, and, after applying for a wrecking permit, the property remained standing. Last month, the case was prepared for criminal court. Shortly after, the owner picked up the permit and began hand wrecking the house.
