609 Steiner Avenue in Sedamsville
A Sedamsville house has placed seventh in HomeVestors' Ugliest House of the Year Contest.
609 Steiner Avenue, built in 1885, was among ten finalists chosen out of hundreds of properties submitted by HomeVestors franchisees.
The "winning" house, based upon Internet voting, was a windowless, trash-filled crack house at 1916 32nd Street in Sarasota, Florida that had $300,000 in fines and code violations against it at the time of purchase. (Photo below)
HomeVestors has since sold the property to an investor, who has started to rebuild it.
The Sedamsville property was purchased by HomeVestors franchisee Franklin Property Investments last September for $3,000.
Building code violations for siding, windows, cornice, gutters and paint were most recently issued in November 2007.
Compliance on the violations was achieved yesterday, and the case has been closed.
HomeVestors, which specializes in purchasing properties quickly in exchange for cash, is best known for its "We Buy Ugly Houses" billboard campaign.
