Cincinnati City Council's Economic Development Committee will consider on Tuesday the addition of the Kennedy Heights Urban Design Overlay District to the Cincinnati Municipal Code.
The overlay district is the legislative enforcement arm of the recently adopted urban design plan and would require all building permits concerning signs, awnings, mechanicals and utilities, windows, exterior renovations, new construction and demolition within the district to be reviewed for compliance by a zoning hearing examiner.
City Council approved the establishment of an overlay district in December.
Within the next few years, the Kennedy Heights Community Council plans to implement several development and design schemes to improve the Montgomery Road and Kennedy Avenue corridors.
Within the City of Cincinnati, urban design overlay districts have been established in College Hill, Clifton, Columbia Tusculum, Hartwell, Hyde Park East, Hyde Park Square, Mount Airy, Mount Lookout, Mount Washington, North Avondale, Oakley Square, Pleasant Ridge and University Village (Short Vine).
