Sacred Spaces series features building tours

Two building tours of local houses of worship will be held within the next two weeks as part as a local interfaith series.

In addition to site visits, Sacred Spaces explores Jewish, Christian and Islamic places of worship through films, commentary and discussion.

On March 26, "The Church: House of Worship" will be presented at the Taft Museum of Art, 316 Pike Street, Downtown. An airing of the film Building Faith, Sacred Architecture: German Lutheran Churches will be followed by a bus trip to tour the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption in Covington.

The following Wednesday, "Mosque: The Focal Point of a Muslim Community" will be presented at the Islamic Center of Greater Cincinnati, 8092 Plantation Drive in West Chester Township. A tour of the mosque will follow the short film Building Faith, Sacred Architecture: Islamic Mosques.

Admission to either event is $16 for adults, $10 for students and seniors. Members of the Cincinnati Art Museum, Taft Museum of Art, the Islamic Center of Greater Cincinnati or the Skirball Museum Cincinnati at Hebrew Union College can attend for $8.

Reservations and program times are available by calling (513) 721-ARTS.

Sacred Spaces is presented by the Cincinnati Art Museum, Islamic Center of Greater Cincinnati, Skirball Museum, Taft Museum of Art, and the Edward B. Brueggeman Center for Dialogue at Xavier University.
