More than 1,000 Ludlow Avenue consumer surveys have been received by the Clifton Gaslight Main Street group, and a few preliminary findings are in.
The most frequented business was Keller's IGA. CVS placed second in the surveys, followed by the Esquire Theatre, Sitwells, the library and the post office.
Survey respondents said that they would most like to see a bookstore, a hardware store, a health foods store, men's and women's clothing stores, a larger library and a greater variety of restaurants.
A detailed analysis of the results is underway, and the final results will be published to the Ludlow Avenue website.
In related news, work is expected to begin in June on the $1.8 million Ludlow Avenue streetscape project, which will improve the street from Clifton Avenue to the Middleton/Whitfield area.
Improvements will include a new gathering space and kiosk at Telford Avenue, a new plaza on the former site of Bender Optical, and new sidewalks, curbs, gas lamps, street furniture and street trees.
Construction staging will be located at the Bender Optical site, and sidewalks will remain open at all times.
