Lack of funding may alter Northland plans

A lack of funding has caused a delay which may lead the City of Forest Park to consider alternative plans for 640 and 660 Northland Boulevard (BIRD'S EYE).

Last month, it was reported that the city was about a month away from signing new tenants for the Class B office space.

According to economic development director Paul Brehm, the city has a specific alternative proposal that would bring an employee-based office user to the site.

In order to obtain state incentives, city council will need to approve of the new proposal and to contribute matching funds.

Forest Park is focusing its the majority of its redevelopment efforts on making the Northland corridor more attractive, contemporary and mixed-use.

Brehm estimates that between $15 million and $20 million will be spent on projects on both Northland Boulevard and Hamilton Avenue over the next ten years.
