Land-use regulation adds $200,000 to the median price of Seattle homes, according to a piece by Randal O'Toole in the Antiplanner blog.
O'Toole cites a study by Theo Eicher, an economist at the University of Washington, that compared the land-use regulations of 250 cities with housing prices from 2006 census data, finding a correlation between the two.
According to Eicher's study, median home prices are higher than they should be in every city he examined.
Sightline Daily isn't buying it, and they offer a three-part rebuttal.
