The Inspirational Baptist Church is planning a 1,500-seat worship/community center on the site of the former Surf Cincinnati waterpark.
The project will be built on 14.23 acres off of Sebring Drive, which also borders I-275.
The church bought the property in January 2006.
In the future, the church hopes to purchase additional adjacent acreage for sports facilites, social services, youth programs and a restaurant. The church is also in preliminary talks with the Windham group for a 99-room hotel and conference facility.
Inspirational Baptist Church, which turns 50 this September, is currently located on seven acres at 9208 Daly Road. Their congregation has grown from 300 to 1,700 in the last five years.
Surf Cincinnati closed due to bankruptcy in 2002.

Anderson trustees okay Horizon megachurch
Preliminary plans for a 160,000-square-foot megachurch were approved by the Anderson Township Board of Trustees.
Horizon Community Church is seeking to build the church and a 1,200-space surface parking lot on land from the former Indian Valley Golf Course.
The approval allows for a zoning change from "H" Riverfront to "A-A CUP" Planned Residence. "H" Riverfront zoning does not allow churches.
A more detailed development plan will be submitted later this year. The Anderson Township Zoning Commission will review those plans to make sure that they comply with the trustees' conditions of approval.

Anderson Twp: Horizon Community Church project update
The proposed Horizon Community Church project will have a couple of public hearings this month.
On June 7, the proposal will be reviewed by the Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission (HCRPC).
On June 18, the Anderson Township Zoning Commission will take those recommendations and hold a public hearing.
Those recommendations will be passed along to the Board of Township Trustees. This item has not yet been added to their agenda.
The purpose of these meetings is to rezone 117 acres from "H" Riverfront to "A-A CUP" Planned Residence, a zoning designation that allows churches.
Horizon Community Church would then be allowed to erect a 160,000-square-foot* church and 1,200 space parking lot on the site of the former Indian Valley Golf Course.

* NOTE: Previous meetings in front of the HCRPC and the Hamilton County Rural Zoning Commission described a building of 210,000 square feet. Has this been scaled down? I don't know.

Anderson Twp: Horizon Community Church project
Horizon Community Church plans to build a massive 210,000 square-foot building on the former Indian Valley Golf Course in Anderson Township and Newtown.
The building site would also have a 1,200 space parking lot, an impervious surface in the Little Miami watershed, that will certainly never be used to capacity.
One hundred twelve acres north of Eight Mile Creek would remain undeveloped.
To make this project a reality, a land use plan amendment was necessary to allow the development of the 42 acres south of Eight Mile Creek.
The amendment changes the Anderson Township Land Use Plan for the site from Park/Recreational/Open Space to Public/Semi-Public/Institutional.
Horizon still will need to get a zoning change for the property because its current zoning, "H" Riverfront, doesn't allow churches.
So far this development has had support from the township trustees and development advisors, from the county planners, and from the Eastern Corridor Plan.
