On May 1, Cincinnati City Council approved two applications for Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) grants to assist the Cincinnati Recreation Commission's (CRC) planned renovation of the Ryan Sports Complex, located at 3324 Meyer Place in Westwood.
The grants, for approximately $126,000 and $70,000 through the ODNR NatureWorks Grant Program and the Land and Water Grant Program, respectively, would provide for the relocation of three baseball fields, the development of a football field, the addition of a walking trail, and ADA-compliant access upgrades.
A $200,000 local match would be provided through capital improvement project account funding.
The NatureWorks grant program was established through the approval of a bond issue by Ohio voters in 1993. Land and Water Conservation Fund grants are federal funds disbursed to state and local governments for the acquisition, development, and rehabilitation of recreational areas.
