Two neighborhoods raising funds for new banners

Two Cincinnati neighborhoods are raising funds for new banners to help improve aesthetics and instill neighborhood pride.

In Northside, "Generations", to be held from 7 P.M.-11 P.M. Saturday at the Greater Cincinnati Deaf Club, 3938 Spring Grove Avenue, features more than 20 musicians, with proceeds going to the Northside Community Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation to replace the 20 aging banners along the Ludlow Viaduct.

Festivities also include a silent auction of Northside treats, including dinners at historic Northside residences, a pizza party in your kitchen, artists' framed originals, a pickup truck full of mulch, and more.

Across the street, developers MC3 Group Limited will be holding an open house of its Bridgeview Condominiums, unveiled in October, from 6 P.M.-8 P.M.

Admission is $20. Tickets can be purchased at Shake It Records, Picnic and Pantry, and Northside Bank and Trust Company.

For more information, call Mark Kroner at 284-7779 or Tim Jeckering at 520-7112.

In Pleasant Ridge, the banners hanging on the poles in the neighborhood's business district are also in need of replacement.

A committee of residents has established the Pleasant Ridge Street Banner Fund, with a plan to help pay for the banners, their hardware, and their installation.

To contribute, donations can be made to the fund, care of Pleasant Ridge Community Council, at P.O. Box 128705; Cincinnati, OH, 45212. Contributions may be tax-deductible.
