Three-week River Cities Photo Contest kicks off Saturday

A photography contest featuring three Northern Kentucky river cities begins this weekend in Dayton.

The River Cities Photo Contest, to take place over the next three weekends, will feature the natural and man-made assets of Dayton, Bellevue and Newport. Photography will take place in Dayton this Saturday-Sunday, in Bellevue August 14-15, and in Newport August 21-22.

Winning photos from each city will be displayed in that city, and also will be on display at Bellevue's annual Art in the Park on September 11. They may also be used in city advertisements.

Participants may submit one 8x10 photo per city, via manila envelope, to Red Door Photography, 224 Fairfield Avenue, Bellevue, KY 41073.

The overall first prize is $1,000. Second and third prizes are $500 and $300, respectively.

A $10 entrance fee is required. Applications and rules can be picked up at the Dayton City Building, 514 6th Avenue in Dayton; at Red Door Photography; or by e-mailing Barry Baker at rivercitiesphotocontest@insightbb.com.

Submissions are due by August 28.
