Cause of death: A leaning foundation wall on the right side of the building; a cracked and bulging rear foundation wall; deteriorated roof, gutters and downspouts; a defective cornice; broken windows; water damage; lack of protective paint; and trash and debris. City barricading crews were called to the site on at least two occasions.
The house was condemned in April 2007, declared a public nuisance in August 2007, and razed by the City.
The owner, who lives in California, made one last-ditch effort to save the building by calling the City in January 2009. Contact with the owner seems to have been lost since then.
