Great American Tower elevators to be among fastest in City

The new elevators at the Great American Tower at Queen City Square, which will be among the fastest in the City of Cincinnati, has been selected as the 2010 Project of the Year for New Installation Projects by their manufacturer and installer.

Currently being installed by ThyssenKrupp Elevator, the project includes the installation of 28 elevators. The three executive high-rise elevators will travel at 1,400 feet per minute and are being equipped with special high-speed ride quality features, including Destination Dispatch, which directs passengers to the elevator that will get them to their destination in the shortest travel time.

Pete Nelson, ThyssenKrupp's vice president of new construction sales in the central region, is leading the project.

"This is such a monumental and complex project that it was chosen for ThyssenKrupp's Project of the Year Award among thousands of other projects in North America," Nelson said.

ThyssenKrupp Elevator Americas, a subsidiary of ThyssenKrupp Elevator AG, is the largest producer of elevators in the Americas with over 14,000 employees and more than 200 branch locations.

The $322 million, 41-story Great American Tower at Queen City Square is schedule to open in January 2011, when 2,500 workers from American Financial Group will move in to a portion of the building's 800,000 square feet of office space.

Seven floors remain available for lease.
