Bicycling Newport aims for bike-friendly city

A new group has been formed to make Newport a more bike-friendly city.

Bicycling Newport consists of local bicyclists and businesspeople whose goals include bicycle advocacy and education.

Jack Kerley of Bicycling Newport hopes that the city can eventually be named as a bronze-level Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists.

In Kentucky, only Louisville and Lexington have that designation.

If you bike in Newport, Kerley is seeking your comments at JKerley@zoomtown.com.

The group's next meeting is February 19 at 6 PM at the Newport branch of the Campbell County Library, 901 E 6th Street.
