Cause of death: Building collapse. The east wall failed, spilling bricks into the street. Stress fractures were noticed on the west wall, and heavy equipment was immediately called in. Due to the instability of the west wall, 136 Mulberry was evacuated as demolition of the collapsed building began by hand. The building was owned and neglected by Brandon Blatt, who had acquired the building by outbidding someone who had planned to rehab it as an owner-occupied unit.
