The New York Times features this photo slideshow of suburban "visual pollution" and the loss of a sense of place.
The slideshow is narrated by Kevin Fry, president of Scenic America, a non-profit advocacy group dedicated to enhancing the visual character of America's communities and countryside.
"Once you've lost your connection to a place there's no reason to care about it any more," Fry says.
The slideshow is approximately three minutes long.
