Cincinnati City Council has approved unanimously an ordinance allowing Enerfab to operate a steel fabrication plant in Riverside.
The notwithstanding ordinance allows Mandy's Landing to sell its 10.7-acre marina and boat storage facility at 4331 River Road to Enerfab for a one-story building, a storage yard, parking and barge unloading facilities.
These activities are not permitted under the current zoning.
The City will also enter into an agreement with Enterfab giving it the right of first refusal on the property - should Enerfab ever look to sell - and allowing the City to attempt to purchase the site for redevelopment in eight years.
The Riverside Strategic Community Plan recommends that the area around the corner of River and Anderson Ferry roads be redeveloped for neighborhood commerce and greenspace.
Mandy's Landing was forced to sell due to tremendous debt, including over $140,000 owed in property taxes to Hamilton County.
A purchase agreement between the two parties has already been signed.
