More 2007 NBDSF requests

More applications for Neighborhood Business District Support Fund (NBDSF) grant funds were submitted to City Council on November 28.

In addition to 15 proposals received two weeks ago, the following 3 proposals also have been received:

* Columbia Tusculum ($4,167): Replacement of two bus stop benches in the business district, landscaping along Eastern Avenue, and branding and promotion via T-shirts.

* North Avondale ($4,110.22): A sprinkler system to water the rose bushes and other plantings surrounding the comfort station, which were planted to stop graffiti.

* Madisonville ($4,000): A new logo and banners to identify the business district.

The NBDSF, which is budgeted through the City's Department of Community Development, provides up to $10,000 for general improvement projects to each of 34 recognized neighborhood business districts.

The program is administered through Invest in Neighborhoods, Inc. No release date for the funds has been set, though it will have to be soon.
