The historic Judge Morse House, at 400 E Sharon Avenue in Glendale, is going up for auction this afternoon at 2 PM.
Built around 1865 for Henry Morse, a judge on the Court of Common Pleas between 1845 and 1846, the house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is part of the Glendale Historic District.
The two-and-a-half-story house is predominantly in the Gothic Revival style, but was built in several phases.
A rear L-shaped portion was part of the original house, with an east-facing porch that has been filled in to create more living space. The larger portion, which gives the house its Gothic Revival flavor, was added later, followed by a smaller wood-frame addition.
The interior finishes are still in excellent condition and the house's mechanicals are all up to date.
The windows, which are original to the house, are in good condition.
The Cincinnati Preservation Association has a historic preservation easement on the home and the hope is that it will be purchased by an occupant rather than a flipper.
Williams & Williams will conduct the auction, and the property will be open two hours prior to the sale.
The bidding will start at $50,000.
