Enquirer: Two local sites nominated for National Register

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that the Ohio Historic Site Preservation Advisory Board has nominated two local sites for the National Register of Historic Places.

The German Evangelical Protestant Cemetery Chapel, which can be found in Vine Street Hill Cemetery, was built in 1884 by George and August Brink. The Brinks were well-known architects who built mainly in the West End, including residences on Dayton Street's "Millionaire's Row".

Pleasant Hill, at 909 Ohio 131 in Milford, is an Italianate farmhouse with an unusual hipped roof. It was built around 1867 by Enoch Gest Megrue, Cincinnati's first paid fire chief.

Seven other Ohio sites are up for consideration.

The National Register of Historic Places is administered by the National Park Service and includes 3,635 Ohio listings.
