World Town Planning Day Charette to aid Mount Healthy

The World Town Planning Day Charette 2007 will be held today in Mount Healthy.

The focus of this year's event will be developing strategies to implement Mount Healthy's recently developed comprehensive plan*.

Of special concern are the city's branding, traffic movement along Hamilton Avenue, the city's housing stock and the redevelopment of three key sites.

The agenda includes a driving/walking tour of the focus areas.

The charette is being conducted by the Cincinnati Section of the Ohio Planning Conference, the Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission, the First Suburbs Consortium, the University of Cincinnati and Miami University.

The event is held annually to allow planners, architects, development experts, realtors and college students to brainstorm ideas that can be used in future planning efforts.

Participants are grouped into teams based on skill, knowledge and interest, and their ideas will be presented to community leaders at the end of the day.

World Town Planning Day was established in 1949 and is celebrated in 30 countries on four continents.

8 AM-5 PM. Mount Healthy Community Room, Hill Street between Perry and Joseph streets.
