God's Bible School and College is using the strategy of purchase and demolition to eliminate crime and blight in the hopes of making the area around campus safer for its students.
The most recent demolitions have occurred along the 1800 block of Josephine Street in Mount Auburn.
The plan is part of the college's $3 million Faith in the Future campaign, an effort to transform the campus and neighboring community with new school facilities and student housing.
Eventually, other dilapidated properties near Josephine Street and Dorchester Avenue will be torn down to make way for a new gateway, which will serve both the college and nearby Filson Park.
