Devou plan meeting tonight

Those who enjoy Covington's 660-acre Devou Park can give feedback on its draft master plan tonight.

Visitors to the meeting will be asked to rank their preferences of proposed new and improved features.

Among the ideas being discussed are:

* A new gateway bridge or tram to connect the park to MainStrasse
* A unified and simplified road system
* Expanding the Drees Pavilion and creating an "overview district"
* Improving the ampitheater
* Improving access to the Behringer-Crawford Museum and Prisoners Lake
* Better facilities at Prisoners Lake
* Upgrading or eliminating the golf course
* Mountain bike trails
* Selective cutting of trees to open up views

This will be the final meeting before work begins on a final design.

No funds have been budgeted for construction.

The draft master plan was prepared for the City of Covington, the Devou Park Advisory Committee, and Devou Properties.

Human Nature Inc created the $125,000 document, with consultants CDS Associates, Thelen & Associates, Fearing + Hagenauer, LSM Inc. and Davey Resource Group.
