In anticipation of a new St. Elizabeth medical facility, the Northern Kentucky Area Planning Commission is assisting the city of Covington in preparing for its local impact.
A 120,000-square-foot building is planned for 10 acres adjacent to I-75, to be connected to 12th Street by an access road.
The area will also be affected by the widening of 12th Street to four lanes.
An eleven-member task force was formed in July to embark on a study of existing conditions in the Westside and Peaselburg neighborhoods. This study will include things such as demographics, housing, zoning, transportation and land use.
Interviews with stakeholders who aren't involved with the task force are being done concurrently.
An interim report containing the task force's findings will be released next month. Public meetings are expected to follow.
The $100,000 study is expected to be completed in July 2008.
