TRAC accepts 2014-2017 draft for road projects, accepting public comment

The Ohio Department of Transportation's Transportation Review Advisory Council (TRAC), a nine-member board responsible for funding all major new capacity projects of more than $12 million, has voted to accept the draft Major New Construction Program List for fiscal years 2014-2017.

TRAC is accepting public comments on the draft list through Jan. 18.

Among the local projects receiving funding are:

  • I-75 Mill Creek Expressway, from the Monmouth Street overpass to Mitchell Avenue – including the I-74 interchange ($168.7M): $96.3 million for construction in fiscal year 2021, moved up from 2024;
  • Thru the Valley, I-75 between Shepherd Lane and Glendale-Milford Road ($94.3M): $60 million in fiscal year 2016 for construction, moved up from 2021;
  • Brent Spence Bridge, I-71/75 between Fort Washington Way and Freeman Avenue ($1B): $47.8 million in fiscal year 2014 for right-of-way acquisition;
  • I-75 Mill Creek Expressway, from Mitchell Avenue to the Norwood Lateral ($41.1M): $22.6 million for construction in fiscal year 2021, moved up from 2025;
  • Eastern Corridor, Ohio 32 connector from Red Bank Road to Bells Lane ($366M): $3.6 million in fiscal year 2014 for preliminary engineering;
  • I-71 Uptown Access Study, Martin Luther King Drive interchange ($70M): $2.4 million in fiscal year 2014 for design and development;
  • Thru the Valley, I-75 northbound between Galbraith Road and Shepherd Lane ($100.9M): $1.5 million in fiscal year for design and development;
  • Thru the Valley, I-75 southbound between Galbraith Road and Shepherd Lane ($78.8M): $1.2 million in fiscal year 2014 for design and development;
  • Thru the Valley, ramps connecting I-75 and Ohio 126 ($66.2M): $1 million in fiscal year 2014 for design and development; and
  • Thru the Valley, I-75 between the bridge over Mill Creek and Galbraith Road ($90.6M): $400,000 in fiscal year 2014 for design and development;
TRAC's next voting session is Jan. 24 at 10 A.M. at the Ohio Department of Transportation's Central Office, Conference Room GA, located at 1980 West Broad Street in Columbus.

The board has committed $170.8 million in funding for 2014 and $39.9 million in funding for 2015.
