As a result of neighborhood planning efforts, a two-way street in Pendleton soon will be converted to a one-way.
E Twelfth Street between Sycamore Street and Broadway will soon be eastbound only, a move that the community council believes will help improve pedestrian connectivity and add on-street parking.
In a May 16 letter to Cincinnati City Council, Pendleton Neighborhood Council President David White said that the change would complement a streetscape project planned for the neighborhood.
"Our council sees great value in this project because of the expansion of sidewalks, the burial of overhead utilities, and a consistent direction of traffic for the entire length of East 12th Street throughout Pendleton," he said.
The change is also supported by the Over-the-Rhine Community Council.
Cincinnati ordinances typically go into effect 30 days after passage, meaning the change likely will take effect next month.
