Final day for Paint the Town registration

Today is the last day to register for Give Back Cincinnati's ninth annual Paint the Town event, rescheduled following a June 12 rainout.

This Saturday, more than 1,000 volunteers are expected to take part in the community service event, painting 58 homes throughout Avondale and Evanston.

The homes were solicited through and applications process and chosen based on need. Owner-occupants are typically physically or financially unable to do the work themselves.

The goal of the program is to beautify the neighborhood, increase property values, and to act as a catalyst that will spur other property owners to improve their own properties.

Both neighborhoods' community councils are serving as project partners.

Registration runs from 7:45 a.m.-8:30 a.m. at the Norwood Plaza Shopping Center, 3845 Ivanhoe Avenue. Painting will end between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Since its founding, Paint the Town has painted a total of 202 homes in eight Greater Cincinnati communities.
