Third annual Covington Quest part race, part scavenger hunt

The third annual Covington Quest will be held this Saturday, a part-foot race/part-scavenger hunt that serves as a fundraiser for the Center for Great Neighborhoods of Covington.

Teams of four will travel a four-mile course hiding 12 secret locations, all the while finding clues, solving riddles, and participating in physical challenges.

This year, two divisions of competitors will be formed based on average age, with the first- and second-place finishers in each division winning cash prizes of $1,600 and $400, respectively. Other prizes will be awarded as well, including free T-shirts and goody bags.

Thirty-four teams participated last year and 30 teams took part in 2008, with finishing times ranging from 90 minutes to three hours.

Registration is $200 per team of four. Sign-in begins at 9 a.m. at Covington Landing, and the race begins at 10 a.m.

An after party with music, food, and drinks will be held at The Avenue Lounge, 411 Madison Avenue.

In operation for 30 years, the Center for Great Neighborhoods is a non-profit that seeks to boost homeownership, increase community engagement, and equip residents with the tools and resources necessary to create safe and livable neighborhoods.
