Dater's $17.4M renovation complete

A fully-renovated Gilbert A. Dater Montessori School opens today following a $17.4 million renovation.

Built in 1966 and located at 2840 Boudinot Avenue in Westwood, the structure was given new windows, a new HVAC system, new plumbing and electrical, and new technology wiring.

The building's layout was changed to provide new extended learning areas for group activities, a new playground, a newly designed front lobby and main office, a new student and staff entrance, and a better traffic flow pattern for buses and cars.

The school is now ADA-compliant.

Dater Montessori's approximately 650 preschool through 6th grade students in have been attending classes at the former Roberts Paideia Academy at 1700 Grand Avenue since August 2007. Students from Oyler School will move into that building when the Oyler expansion gets underway this summer.

The renovation was part of the Cincinnati Public Schools' 10-year, $1 billion Facilities Master Plan, made possible through a bond issue passed by voters in May 2002.
