OHFA launches affordable housing office

The Ohio Housing Finance Agency (OHFA) has launched it Office of Affordable Housing Research to help form and implement affordable housing policy and initiatives throughout the state.

The office will engage in several initiatives to utilize research-based data to prioritize statewide housing needs, inform policy, and ensure safe and decent accommodations for Ohio's low- and moderate-income families.

It will also work with Ohio State University's John Glenn School of Public Affairs and other colleges and universities around the state to study the impact of affordable housing and housing policy best practices.

"Access to secure housing is a basic human need and we strive to ensure all Ohioans have that opportunity," said OHFA executive director Doug Garver in a media release. "With the creation of this new venture coupled with the OHFA Annual Plan, we will strategically identify and address affordable housing issues throughout Ohio."

The Office of Affordable Housing Research will be led by Dr. Holly Beard.
