Bids being accepted for Sharonville CC expansion

Sealed bids are being accepted for two contracts related to the $32 million Sharonville Convention Center renovation and expansion site package.

Contractors will have until 2 p.m. September 15 to bid on a $3.6 million site work package and a $300,000 electrical work package.

A pre-bid meeting will be held at the center at 10 a.m. on September 3.

When completed in early 2011, the new center will have a 20,330-square-foot exhibit hall, 23,200 square feet of meeting space, an 11,000-square-foot ballroom, and a large outdoor veranda.

The new building will seek LEED Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

The project will be financed through a $32 million bond issue backed by Cincinnati and Hamilton County hotel taxes and annual hotel tax revenue from the City of Sharonville.

Sharonville plans to begin selling the bonds this month, with groundbreaking scheduled for October.

CDS Associates, Inc. designed the project, and Megen Construction Company will serve as the construction manager.

In operation since 1994, the Sharonville Convention Center attracts more than 200,000 visitors annually.
