Wrecking Cincinnati, 8/5/09

1061 Township Street, Camp Washington
Industrial warehouse
DOB: 1900
Died: May 2009
Cause of death: A collapsed roof, a damaged brick front wall, and broken windows allowing water to damage the structure. Bricks were in danger of falling from the building, and the lot became a site for illegal dumping.

The City condemned the building in January 2007. Following the failure of the owner to report to two pre-prosecution hearings, criminal charges were filed. The owner pled "not guilty". Two months later, he was entered into a diversion program.

It was declared a public nuisance in July 2008. That same month, the building owner claimed that he had a $4,000 bid for the demo but could not afford to pay it, despite owning two additional properties, including a residence in Green Township. The building was razed by the City, and it appears that criminal charges are still pending.
