Wrecking Cincinnati, 6/8/09

2724 W McMicken Avenue, University Heights
Light manufacturing
DOB: 1890s
Died: April 2009
Cause of death: Once home of the Cincinnati Costume Company, a five-alarm fire burned down four of the buildings in the complex on July 10, 2007. Between 75 and 100 firefighters responded to the blaze.

While the other buildings had long since been demolished, it appeared that this building would survive and continue to hold the corner of W McMicken and Tafel.

But the attached (white) building was condemned in June 2008, and the entire site was declared a public nuisance in September 2008.

The owners razed the structures privately. Caren Young has moved on to open Caren Young Design Studio and is a costume designer at Cincinnati Landmark Productions.
