Sayler Park church to be auctioned Thursday

The Delhi Presbyterian Church will be sold to the highest bidder this Thursday at 5:30 PM.

Built in 1895 and located at 6558 Gracely Drive in Sayler Park, the space features original leaded glass windows, oak doors, and a vaulted ceiling with original oak crossbeams.

A large, domed central window composed of 15 separate panels and four Arts & Crafts-style sconces provide lighting to the space.

In addition to the sanctuary, the building includes a small office, a choir room, and a Fellowship Hall (1926), with a 10-burner commercial grade stove and wood tongue-in-groove flooring.

The Sayler Park Redevelopment Corporation had been in negotiations with the Presbytery of Cincinnati to have the church donated for an arts center, but talks broke down over utilities and maintenance issues arising from the lack of adequate income that an arts center could bring in.

Because the property is zoned residential and requires some updating and restoration, neighbors are concerned that the buyer may raze the church and attached parish house (1920) and build multi-family housing on the site.

The church has no historic designation or protections.

An inspection will take place today between 3 PM and 5 PM.
