Wrecking Cincinnati, 10/6/08

1773 Queen City Avenue, South Fairmount
Three-family
DOB: 1890
Died: September 2008
Cause of death: Vacant and weather damaged, open windows and doors allowing in vermin and trespassers, a collapsing rear porch, deep cracks in the rear wall and mortar and bricks missing from one of the chimneys.

The City first ordered the building vacant in April 2003, and condemned it in March 2007. The owner, who lives in Mason, did not show up for a pre-prosecution hearing, and the case went to court.

The house was declared a public nuisance in September 2007. The owner pled no contest and was put into a compliance program. He razed the building himself.
