Cause of death: Severe general deterioration, likely from abandonment. Records indicate that the water was shut off to the property in August 2002. The City condemned the house in July 2006. City staff met with a contractor in August 2006 to discuss an interior and exterior rehabilitation, but no work was ever done. A criminal case was eventually filed after the owner did not show up for pre-prosecution hearings and did not obtain a Vacant Building Maintenance License. The house was finally declared a public nuisance in April 2007 and razed by the City. The house was part of the Dayton Street National Historic District.
