Cause of death: The City ordered it vacated and barricaded in February 2006 due to squatters and vandalism. Despite the pending orders, the adjacent Bright Star Baptist Church purchased it in February 2007 for $6,000 with the stated purpose of razing it. The new owners failed to obtain a Vacant Building Maintenance License or to make any repairs, and a criminal complaint was prepared. It appears that this building was demolished to avoid litigation. There is absolutely no reason it should have been done.
