Hauck estate to be auctioned next week

The historic John Hauck Estate in Sharonville will be sold at sheriff's auction next week.

The auction will be held June 12 at 11 AM in Room 260 of the Hamilton County Courthouse, 1000 Main Street, Downtown.

The 7,200-square-foot mansion at 12171 Mosteller Road (BIRD'S EYE), which was built in 1904 as a summer residence for Louis J. Hauck of the John Hauck Brewing Company, is eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places.

Interest in the property for office use has been light since it was first listed for $1.3 million in 2006.

Recently, several buyers have considered purchasing the estate for land value and demolishing the historic mansion for redevelopment.

Listing on the National Register would make available a 20 percent federal rehabilitation tax credit and would make it eligible for a preservation easement donation, providing permanent protection for the property.

The house is valued at $450,000 and the minimum bid has been set at $300,000.
