Foreclosure Phone-a-Thon coming up Wednesday

The Home Ownership Center of Greater Cincinnati is coordinating a Foreclosure Prevention Phone-a-Thon at the CET studios this Wednesday from 6 AM to 8 PM.

The phone-a-thon is targeting families who need a new loan to sustain their homeownership.

Statistically, 50 percent of homeowners in foreclosure have not contacted their lenders.

In order to prevent the spread of foreclosures due to homeowner inaction, the phone-a-thon will allow those in trouble to contact certified counselors anonymously by phone or by e-mail.

Volunteers will fill out intake sheets for each caller and schedule them for a specific foreclosure clinic that will teach them how to interact with their lender.

The Home Ownership Center will then facilitate those interactions.

In celebration of National Homeownership Month, a regional kick-off event will be held Tuesday at 10 AM at the CET studios, 1223 Central Parkway.

Portions of the phone-a-thon will be simulcast on television.
